Giftland Office Max contribute
In its continuing efforts to develop young Guyanese through sport, the Hikers Hockey Club’s
Western Union Junior Programme will be sending a representative team to compete in the Magnolias International Indoor Tournament in Trinidad and Tobago over this weekend.
Chipping in to ensure Hikers’ participation was Giftland Office Max which contributed financially towards the trip. Marketing Manager Mr. Compton Bobb handed over the cheque to Manager of the team Michael Harding.
The Junior Hikers will be competing in the Male Under-21 category while two girls from the Club’s junior programme will also be competing in the tournament as guest players of Trinidadian Clubs.
Manager of the Team Mr. Michael Harding indicated that he has high expectations for the team as most of the players have benefited from similar tours over the past two years and the team has improved significantly since last year.
The touring team is a well balanced mix with eight players recruited from the Club’s annual summer camps while the other six players are from the Club’s ongoing school programme at the St. Stanislaus College. The team is scheduled to depart today for the three-day event.
The touring party includes; Jamarj Assanah, Leon Bacchus, Aroydy Branford, Rayon Branford, Hilton Chester, Paramanand Dindial, Michael Harding, Joel Hunte, Leroy Jack, Yonnick Peters, Andrew Stewart, Travon Younge, Macaela Harding and Renee James.
