A Route 48 bus driver was released on $25,000 bail after he was charged with malicious wounding.
The court heard that on May 20, at Princes Street, Brian Allen unlawfully and maliciously wounded Lynette Simmons, with intent to maim, disable, disfigure or cause her grievous bodily harm.
Allen, 35, of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan.
Prosecutor Jones informed the court that the defendant and the victim are tenants residing at the same address.
Initially, bail was set to the tune of $70,000 for the defendant. But after he pleaded with the Magistrate to reduce the amount, this was granted.
The defendant told the magistrate that he is a bus driver and was not working at the moment. He added that he only had $20,000 to post bond.
