Feb 08, 2016 Letters
Dear Editor,
I read with interest a letter carried in Kaieteur News (7 February 2016) by Team Benschop for Mayor campaign manager Ronson Gray, titled, “Team Benschop accuses Mayor Green of PPP type behavior”. As I read Gray’s missive I am reminded in law of the “clean hands doctrine”. Mark Benschop has run a “foundation” for a few years aimed “at developing Guyana’s depressed communities and underprivileged youths through empowerment, education and sport.” I am hazarding a guess that “foundations” do not run on water and as such hard ‘cash’ and ‘kind’ are needed for its projects; and day to day operations. As a person running for public office, and on the tenor in which Mr. Gray ends his letter, the Benschop Foundation “in the spirit of transparency” should produce the records to show how monies given to the Foundation were spent and how other donations were distributed over the years.
