The rain came down in torrents and reduced the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club’s (CSTC) 6 laps race walk around the inner circuit of the National Park to three laps and in the end Maurice Fagundes prevailed, whipping a competitive field that included his son, Jonathan, Debidyal Harold and Franklyn Archer into second, third and fourth places, respectively.
The event was organized in observance of World Environmental Day and sponsored by Modern Optical and The New Building Society Ltd.
Meanwhile, the CSTC will stage a six laps race around the inner circuit of the National Park in commemoration of Father’s Day on June 24. The walkers would be sent on their way at 06:00hrs sharp.
This event would precede the annual Caricom Day race walk, billed for Monday July 6 from the Ogle Airport, ECD, east along the Railway Embankment for the finish at the Caricom Headquarters, Lilliendaal, ECD.
The CSTC then launches its 5th race walk month of activities under the theme “Race Walking, a healthy sport.’
