Dear Editor,
Kindly allow me to express my dissatisfaction with Digicel ‘s data plan. I was not pleased when on June 18 ,2015 I was ‘robbed’ of Four hundred and twenty seven Megabytes (427mb) of internet time from a monthly plus plan and recently (June 25, 2015) on weekly plan, two hundred and twenty two megabytes (222.7) disappeared into oblivion, simply because my plan expired.
On the first occasion I called Digicel two days before telling them that I would not be able to use my MB’s since the internet was at best temperamental and at worst unreliable. The internet service fluctuates during the day and works better from about 22 hours to midnight. I explained that due to my job, these conditions are not ideal.
The reason for buying the amount of data was in the hope of downloading apps and upgrading my phone on my visit to Georgetown during this month.
The sweet customers’ service representative assured me that my plight would be investigated and some reasonable action would be taken. She advised that I try to use as many Megabytes as I can in the following days, to which I agreed.
However on June 18, I had only managed to use a Twenty three megabytes due to the above stated reasons of unreliable service and unreasonable hours.
On my second call on June 18,2015 I was told very politely that since the service everywhere uses 2G and is basically equal, ( This is not TRUE, when I was in Georgetown, the service was faster and more reliable.) I was going to lose my Megabytes with no compensation.
On the second occasion, I did not bother to call customers service. However, please note that I patiently spent the hours and time to use all my megabytes but I did not succeed. I was rewarded with the flu due to low body resistance, because of lack of sleep, for my efforts.
I am really hoping for a positive response. Digicel is the only service provider in my area so it seems we (I am not the only one) have to accept whatever is handed to us, however as a sole service provider, it can optimize on its customer base.
