Dear Editor,
I write to you concerning a case of major corruption as it relates to the robbing of revenue to this country by a prominent gold mining company. I am a senior employee at the entity and I am aware and have been asked repeatedly to compromise my professional ethics in the performance of my job to the instructions of my bosses. The local manager is a known supporter of the present coalition government. That manger has through the company, given the coalition over $100M for the Durban Park project.
As such even though senior members of the government are aware of the situation as it relates to the defrauding of the hundreds of millions in taxes, they are turning a blind eye to it. The company has been inflating its expenses in hundreds of millions by including the expenses incurred in its North American operation in the Guyana accounts so as to declare lower profits and pay less tax. Further, employees are being coerced and bullied into covering these blatant wrong doings. In addition, if you do not agree, you are sent home as others have fallen victim to the same fate.
An immediate investigation of the operation of the company needs to be done urgently and this corruption and collusion resulting in the loss of hundreds of millions in revenue, has to be exposed. The local manager boasts of having “big” connections and no one can touch him/her or the company. Millions of US Dollars have been hidden as expenses and the company draws manager’s cheques for amounts totalling hundreds of millions of dollars, in the name of known contractors who are part of the scheme as they cash the cheques and proceeds are given back to certain persons in the company. I am sure employees will be willing to come forward anonymously to state their confirmation of this situation if it is exposed in the media. The company recently contributed $25M more to the Durban Park project
