Dear Editor,
I read with interest the comments made by Prof. David Hinds in relation to the Walter Rodney affair. It was clearly established during the COI (Commission of Inquiry) that the WPA lead by Rodney was planning an armed revolution with the aim of removing the elected PNC Government from Office and as a result the PNC lead by Burnham took the necessary steps to ensure they did not succeed. As I stated in my testimony I may have done the same. The rest is now history. In the interest of national reconciliation and unity, peace and stability in my humble view the issue should be laid to rest; as it can never be proven beyond a shadow of doubt that Burnham gave direct instructions to kill Rodney. All that can be proven is that it was State sponsored. It was also clear that neither President Granger nor Mr. Harmon played any part in Rodney’s death.
We may never agree with all the decisions made by the new Government but at the very least they should be given a chance to rule out their term of office without disruption. I will always be available to the Government to assist in anyway I can in the area of security and intelligence.
