To Editor,
I would like to comment on an article that was published in the Sunday Chronicle January 8, 2012. Vendors are reluctant to occupy tarmacs; they fear losing business.
I think these regional Chairmen are not doing their duty. They cannot let the vendors tell them how to do their job. The government made preparation for these vendors but they, the vendors, just want to do as they please.
For instance, look at Vreed-en Hoop. You can see vendors opposite the police station, Two Brothers Gas station, and the Vreed-en-Hoop primary school. These people cause obstruction of traffic; they also cause a build up of traffic on the road side.
As for our Regional Chairman, he seems not to do anything about the situation. He is talking about vendors losing business. What about those businessmen who spend millions of dollars?
But those vendors just walk in on the government reserves and take up residence. Those businessmen’s money and business seem not to count in the eyes of the regional chairman.
I, a vendor, would like the Public Works Minister, Robeson Benn, to look into the situation in the Vreed-en-hoop area. What is fair must be fair to one and all.
From A concerned vendor
