Dear Editor,
Please permit me a few lines in your column to respond to a letter, “Freddie should consider emulating Jeffrey’s scholarly penmanship”, by Mr. Bisram. I must begin by stating that as a former student of Mr Kissoon I have always admire and try to emulate his objectivity and the way in which he constructs and articulates his arguments.
It is because of this admiration that I take time off from my busy schedule to read his daily articles. These articles are written in Mr.Kissoon’s own style of penmanship.
I find his arguments coherent, interesting to read, objective, based on facts from his perspective and not forgettable.
Mr. Kissoon is quite forthright and is prepared to call a ‘spade a spade’ without mincing words. These are the personality traits that I admire in the man.
I have had reasons to disagree with Mr.Kissoon on many occasions and I found him to be quite respectful of this.
Should Mr. Kissoon try to emulate Dr Jeffrey penmanship? I would categorically state no, albeit having only read a few of Dr Jeffrey’s articles. Should Dr.Jeffrey emulate Mr.Kissoon’s penmanship?
I would say absolutely no. Both men have their own style and it should remain that way. Do I admire Dr.Jeffrey? Frankly no. Do I admire Mr.Kissoon? Absolutely yes.
Dr.Martin Luther King once said “A man who won’t die for something is not fit to live.” Mr.Kissoon has his strengths and his weaknesses like all of us, but what is abundantly clear is that he shows great commitment to his work which is beyond reproach and has identified that ‘something’ and is prepare to die for it.
Mr.Kissoon is appreciated and loved by many because of who he is and I will be disappointed if he is ever forced to be anyone else.
