Reviving history in school curriculum will promote Guyana
Dear Editor,
Commitments made by donor companies towards Tourism development indeed go some way, and it was pleasant reading to learn that some companies came on board and supported the “Heritage Markers Project” on selected heritage sites.
This should also help in one way towards the development of studies for the primary academic arena.
Sometime down the line, consultations could also be given on reviving the subject area of “History” within the school curriculum.
It will indeed be a very tough task to undertake, but if we need to get more serious on promoting Guyana, it’s an area that needs serious attention. This will definitely involve the Education and Tourism Ministries along with other tourism agencies.
Cyril Potter College would definitely need to be part of the discussion, and it has a very important role to play.
A site that really needs some attention is the Chateau Margot Chimney.
