Kaieteur News – Nineteen-year-old Jadon Sim also known as ‘JJ,’ who was remanded last month for attempted robbery, was on Friday released on $150,000 bail for the same charge.
Sim, a construction worker, of Lot 132 Friendship Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD), made his first court appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on May 5, 2025 before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore who denied bail.
It is alleged that on April 28, 2025, at Camp and Quamina Streets, Georgetown, Sim armed himself with a gun and attempted to rob Shurlan Critchlow, also known as ‘Black Boy’.
During Friday’s court hearing, Sim appeared virtually before Magistrate Annette Singh.
Sim was represented by attorney Stacy Goodings who pled his case and request bail on his behalf.
The prosecution objected to bail noting that the defendant was in the company of others when they robbed Critchlow. According to the prosecution, the accused ran when he saw the police van, but was later apprehended and identified by the victim.
Magistrate Singh, before granting bail, noted that the accused has been in jail for over a month and there is no statement in his file. She said that is enough for bail to be granted.
The matter was adjourned to July 11, 2025.
