Kaieteur sports – The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has commenced preparations for its cricket academy coaching programme in Berbice. The programme, which is being supported by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), will be held across the county in both East and West Berbice.
The BCB has decided to organize six different academies across the county. A commencement date and the duration of the academy has not been decided as yet, but all arrangements are being put in place. The aim is to make sure that the entire county is covered. The sessions will be held four days weekly.
The locations identified are – Upper Corentyne which will be held at Skeldon Community Centre back center with coaches D. Seenarine and M. Mentis.
Two grounds have been identified for session in the Central Corentyne area. At the Whim Cricket Ground, the coaches in charge will be O. Giddings and Eon Hooper. The Jai Hind ground will see sessions being held by coaches Seon Hetmyer and D. Kissoonlall.
The New Amsterdam area will see activities being held at The Berbice High School Ground with coaches Gregory Crandon and Floyd Benjamin.
The Rose Hall Community Centre and Cumberland Ballfield have been identified for the academy activities in the East Canje area with Ameer Rahaman and Balram Samaroo being unidentified.
The West Berbice area will see one ground being used with the Bush Lot Cricket ground being the venue with coaches Rajbance Hemraj and Shamar Angel identified.
