Kaieteur sports – The Ivanoff Vodka/ Masters Dominoes team nationwide dominoes tournament is set to conclude this weekend at Demerara Cricket Club, Queenstown.
The preliminary round of the Georgetown leg will conclude today at R and R Sports Club, Meadowbrook, while national playoffs will commence on Saturday at DCC at 15:00hrs, followed by the grand finale on Sunday.
The respective preliminary rounds have concluded with the results expected to be released shortly. Among the teams that will contest the playoffs are Bank of Guyana, Ministry of Agriculture, GUYSUCO, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, while a special invitation was extended to the Guyana Council of Organisations for persons with disabilities who have also confirmed their participation.
The tournament is being organised by the Masters Dominoes Team in association with Demerara Distillers Limited’s (DDL) under their Ivanoff Vodka brand which is the official title sponsor. Over two million dollars (G$2M) in cash prizes, trophies and hampers are at stake as the tournament aims to celebrate the cultural significance of dominoes and foster nationwide camaraderie.
This year’s winning team will take home $500,000 and a trophy, while the
second- and third-place teams will receive $250,000 and $125,000 respectively, along with
trophies. The MVP of the finals will also be awarded $30,000.
The Guyana National Dominoes Federation extends further invitation for sponsorship in support of the national team.
