Dolphin Speed Swim Club dominates Inter-Club Developmental swim meet
Dolphin Speed Swim Club following their dominating performance at the Inter-Club Developmental Meet.
Kaieteur sports – Dolphin Speed Swim Club emerged as overall champions of the Inter-Club Developmental Swim Meet hosted by Dorado Swim Club at the National Aquatic Centre on Sunday last.
The meet, marking the first swimming competition of the year, brought together several clubs in what turned out to be a highly competitive and spirited event.
Dolphin Speed Swim Club amassed a commanding total of 1,027 points, finishing well ahead of second-place hosts Dorado Swim Club with 543 points, and third-place Sea Otters Swim Club with 536 points.
The other results saw Torpedo Swim Club (315), Trident Swim Academy (171) and Mafra Swim School (76).
Dolphin’s dominant performance is a testament to the hard work of their coaches and instructors, who have been utilizing the Colgrain and National Aquatic Centre pools, with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport through the National Sports Commission.
Despite six of the club’s 51 entered swimmers being unable to participate due to illness, the team delivered outstanding results, highlighted by a total medal haul of 47 gold, 38 silver, and 29 bronze medals.
Age group champions included, Aahil Persaud, Kaia Wilkinson, Adon Ramdatt, Malakhiy Patokie, Ashley Ramsammy, Makeen Hope, Patrice Mahaica and Paul Mahaica, who were awarded trophies and medals for their exceptional individual performances.
Other medal-winning team members included Eshwar and Chitanand Roopnarine, Katy Budhan, Yaseen Hope, Shahid Matthews, Yashi, Sahii, and Myna Toocaram, Heaven Belony, Sarah Ramsammy, Delia Daniels, Isabella Chapman, Brandon Cush, Arianna Persaud, Ada Ferdinand, Soriya Khan, Omario Barrington, Amirya Caesar, De Andrea Leitch, and Kadisha Chase.
The meet featured competitive races across all four strokes—freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke—as well as novice and kickboard events. Swimmers battled for top honours and points that contributed to the club’s overall win.
Adding prestige to the event was the presence of Olympic swimmer and Guyana’s first Pan American Aquatics Championship medallist, Raekwon Noel, who participated and inspired the next generation of swimmers.
Dolphin Speed Swim Club extended congratulations to all participating clubs and expressed appreciation to Club Dorado for hosting the meet.
The Club also thanked its board, members, and supporters for their continued dedication to the sport.
