Kaieteur Sports – Veteran players Chris Barnwell and Shemroy Barrington had respective match-winning games for their franchises when action in the GCB T10 Blast continued Monday at Enmore.
The Jags posted 89-6 from 10 after veteran batsman and match MVP Barrington, led with 47 not out off 29 balls (3×4 3×6) and opener Chandrapaul Hemraj (18).
Piranhas Captain Veerasammy Permaul, finished with 2-18 finding help from all-rounders Rajiv Ivan (1-17) and Harpy Eagles player Quentin Sampson (1-12).
In reply, Berbice missed the train home by a single run, ending on 88-8. Ivan pummeled 36 off 19 while Sagar Hetheramani (20) and 12 apiece from Surhesh Dhanai and Permaul failed to get their team over the line.
First division pacer Carlos Larose (2-16) and national spinner Ashmead Nedd (2-16) were the heroes in a tense finish for Essequibo.
Pitbulls notched up 131-5 after a brilliant innings from in-form all-rounder Barnwell, who guided his team to victory.
The ex-West Indies T20 player blasted a 31-ball 72 with 7 sixes and 4 fours, while Damian Vantull (28) and Sachin Singh (16) batted well enough.
Spinner Devon Lord stunned the Pitbulls with mind-boggling figures of 4-6. In response, the Caimans could only muster 86-5 with efforts from Alex Algoo (30), Kevlon Anderson (14) and Steven Sankar (19).
Barnwell along with the Sinclair’s and company were good with the ball grabbing a wicket each to secure a win.
