Dear Editor,

With the superabundance of money available since 2020, which party prevails in September 2025 will determine whether we make optimum use of this grand gift of God. Or, we descend into the dungeons of dirt, despair, and decadence.

For citizens, let us, for the moment, ignore the many promises. These are easy, as the old folks say,

“ wa mouth, na load”.

This administration, for example, was vicious in its promise to renegotiate the lopsided oil deal. The silence has been deafening as they pursue an irresponsible spending spree. What is vital is for the people to elect a team of persons with a keen understanding of a moral sense embedded in all of our religions.

In the Encyclopedia of Philosophy, we are reminded that, and I repeat because of its importance, “a moral sense, the deliverance of this faculty is feelings or sentiments, hence, it is counted as a sense. Our observations of an instance of virtuous action are the occasion for a feeling of pleasure or satisfaction, which enables us to distinguish that action as virtuous. Similarly, our observation of an instance of vicious action is the occasion for a feeling of pain or uneasiness, which enables us to distinguish that action as vicious. The moral sense is also an influencing motive in our pursuit of virtue and our avoidance of vicious behavior, and it plays a part in our bestowal of praise and blame.”

Dear citizens, we have in place a collection of persons who seem to see nothing wrong with corruption and cronyism, and who condone bad behavior, wife-beaters, and cuss-birds, while seeing nothing wrong with using a heavily funded propaganda machine to deceive the population.

Brief example, they have the temerity to go to the people of Linden, a community that is majority afro-Guyanese, where they dismantled the ‘Board of Guardians’ and identified eight persons, none representing us, the majority of Lindeners.

Linden should not forget the’ Sun Chapman’, which claimed the lives of 40-odd citizens of Linden.

With great shouting, they boast of the roads, canals, and pump stations constructed. The Heroes’ Highway is a case in point, costing nearly double the amount per mile in any country with a similar flat terrain would cost.

Remember the US Secretary of State criticizing the condition of this roadway. The big question is, where has the money, the billions, gone?

Millions are spent daily to maintain two Turkish Power Ships, yet blackouts are still the order of the day. Where has the money gone?

The Carter’s Centre and GECOM are enough to suggest that rigging has started. Where has all the money from GECOM gone?

We await the results of the census carried out a few years ago.

To stay alive, Guyanese must go abroad for certain medications in spite of our appeals to the Minister of Health. Where has all the money gone?

We have a Commission of Information headed by a gentleman who has failed to give the legally required information, and is therefore no more than a highly paid sinecure.

With the abundance of cash, our top students are not afforded scholarships to the Top Universities in Europe and North America, the exception being, of course, relatives and friends of the ruling elite.

The Police Force, once highly regarded, has been mangled, massaged, manipulated, and, with a few exceptions, has let the people down. Where has all the money allocated to the Guyana Police Force gone?

And then, of course, the senior police officer, who, according to him, claims to have received eight million dollars from a friend as a gift for his wedding.

Abraham was a Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Premier, and according to the PPP, was promoted as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works.

Which sane and sensible citizen could help the present administration return to office?

One last bit of wisdom, they say, ‘a Leper never changes its spot’.
