Kaieteur Sports – The Guyanese managed to gain the slightest lead possible by a 3-run margin heading into the final day versus the Leeward Islands on the opening day, at the Inshan Ali Park, Trinidad and Tobago.
In the first innings, Guyana were cleaned up for just 124 runs with contributions coming from Dave Mohabir (34*), Shamar Apple (23), Lomar Seecharran (16), Adrian Hetymer (15) and Emmanuel Lewis (14).
Leewards needed just three bowlers in spinner Jathan Edwards who starred with (4-35), while Tayari Tonge and Kunal Tilokani both grabbed two wickets each.
The Guyanese trio of Parmeshwar Ram (3-22), Feeaz Baksh (3-47) and Navindra Sankar (2-26) then restricted Leewards to 154 all out in their first innings to help sway momentum back in Guyana’s favor.
Guyana, batting again had a nightmare start thanks to seamer Kassim Challenger who grabbed three wickets, as they lost three ending on 33-3 at the close of play.
In the other games played, Trinidad and Tobago (1st innings 163-6), Jamaica (1st innings 142 all out).
Barbados (1st innings 195-9D), Windwards (1st innings 91 all out & 2nd innings 38-1).
