Kaieteur Sports – Former Guyana youth player Rovendra Mandolall slammed a brilliant, unbeaten 113 to help Better-Hope beat Essequibo Coast Cricket Club by 178 runs last Saturday in the continuation of the 2025 Ontario Softball Cricket League T20 competition.
The right-handed Mandolall clobbered 11 sixes and five fours during his 62-ball show as Better-Hope amassed a daunting 241-1 at the expiration of the 20-overs.
Essequibo Coast Cricket Club, in reply, were all out for 63 in the 12th over.
Mandolall, who skippered his county Essequibo at both the youth and senior level, got quality support from Abdil Parsram who was with him on 73 which contained four sixes and three fours.
Mandolall and Parsram also shared a flamboyant, unbroken, 198-run second-wicket stand.
When Essequibo Coast Cricket Club batted, Raj Narine scored a defiant 21 while extras contributed 15.
Another ex-Guyana youth player Troy Gobin grabbed 4-19 from his maximum four overs to lead the dismantle job.
Captain Sunil Ramkissoon was also in the wicket-column with 2-14 off three frugal overs.
Mandolall has now scored 34 softball centuries in North America in various softball competitions.
The 49-year-old Mandolall is the elder brother of another ex-Guyana Under-19 cricketer, the late Shivnandan Mandolall while his two other siblings Ravendra and Narindra also represented Essequibo at the Inter-county level.
Meanwhile, the eight-team competition is slated to continue on Saturday with four matches playing simultaneously across the Greater Toronto Area.
Mandolall is also leading the runs aggregate with 471 from 10 matches. The two top teams will collide on September 7 to decide this year’s champion.
