Kaieteur Sports- Legendary Martial Arts Grandmaster, Dr. Ted Gambordella, has been compiling a book series “World’s Greatest Martial Artists” for the past 15 years. He has joined with respected Martial Arts Grandmasters, Authors, & Scholars Dr Rick Arnold and Lawrence Arthur, to honour the over 500 high-ranking (5th Dan Black belts and above) Masters and Grandmasters featured in the book series, recognising the accomplishments, leadership, and legacies at a once-in-a-lifetime event, called the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time) awards, to be held at the Tanglewood Resort in Dallas, Texas, August 14 – 16th, 2025.
Invited Practitioners from almost every country on the planet are expected to attend.
Guyanese-born Verney “Max” Massiah, the Founder & Chief Instructor of MAXIDO Street-Defence, has been not only nominated for the prestigious “Goat” award, but also invited to conduct a training seminar for the hundreds of attendees, – an indication of the respect and growing attention and curiosity of the unique style of MAXIDO, a pure self-defence system with a strict focus on *Submission *Limb dislocation, and *Bone breakage of an attacker, in UNDER 4 seconds. The system is designed for adults, specifically the “Vulnerable”, such as females, elderly, business owners, professionals, security personnel, law-enforcement, military etc.
It must be noted, that the Martial Arts styles, and systems of *Kung Fu & Wushu originated in CHINA. *Karate & Judo, in JAPAN. *Capoeira – BRAZIL. *Taekwondo & Hapkido – SOUTH KOREA. *Krav-Maga – ISRAEL. *Kajukenbo – USA, etc, etc.
At the event, it will be established that one of the World’s fast-rising and respected systems, “MAXIDO”, known for its EFFECTIVE 4-second defence response, originated in the small country of GUYANA, South America, and has earned its spot on the global Martial Arts map, placed among the best. The legacy of MAXIDO Street-Defence (from Guyana) will be “Earthed”.
Grandmaster Lawrence Arthur, who has been the liaison for “Soke” (meaning “Teacher of Teachers /Head of Family) Max Massiah, (in correspondence seen by this newspaper), said “We are honored to have you and the MAXIDO system featured at this year’s G.O.A.T awards. I have no doubt your seminar will leave a lasting impression on all who attend. We’re thrilled that you’ll be attending with your team. This is a great platform to share what you’ve developed, and we look forward to seeing your system in the spotlight. Your “Under 4 seconds” response concept sounds powerful, and I know our panel and audience would value seeing it in action. This event is about legacy, innovation, and the contributions each of us brings to the Martial Arts World. Your unique approach and dynamic style will be a powerful addition to the weekend.
Coming all the way from Guyana, this distinguished honour is a testament to your dedication, impact, and leadership within the Martial Arts community. Additionally, your recognition in Dr. Ted Gambordella’s book, THE WORLD’S GREATEST MARTIAL ARTISTS, solidifies your legacy among the most elite Martial Artists in history. Again, thank you for your continued commitment to excellence, as we look forward to your powerful seminar presentation, your reputation for realism and intensity is well known, and I’m confident our attendees will benefit greatly from your insight and energy”.
Soke Massiah’s team comprises of 4 of his elite students. *(Former magistrate and Army Lieutenant Colonel) Leslie Sobers, 2nd Dan *Kojo Mcpherson (Black belt) *(Senior Instructor) Sean Thomas (Grey2) and *Floyde “Jun Jun” Rudder (Grey1).
The Guyanese, who has been studying and practicing martial Arts for 53 years, said he also requested to “TEST” at the event, to further validate the effectiveness of MAXIDO. “I intend to pop eyes and jump hearts”, he said.
Soke Max said, every one of his chosen accompanying four, are necessary, to assist in the success of his presentation. However, with mere days away, the meagre budget of US$9,575 (Airfare, meals, Accommodation, event fees) has not been realised, with even 2 members left in limbo without enough funds to purchase their travel tickets, and funds for accommodation still empty. Of course, we reached out to the Ministry of Sports for assistance, but we have not been accommodated. We’re desperately seeking support from corporate Guyana, and citizens, in what is beneficial not for myself or MAXIDO, but for Guyana. Those who can and are willing to assist, please contact us on telephone numbers 609 8132 (Max Massiah), 627 9619 (Leslie Sobers), 626 9723 (Sean Thomas), or Email maxmassiah@yahoo.com.
