Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – In the public domain is a circulated video of “Critic” aka Mikhail Rodrigues berating, with vituperative language, our Guyana’s current Minister of Education, Honourable Priya Manickchand, because she offered an opinion on the currently unfolding “Baby Skello” brouhaha. Ms. Manickchand is also an Attorney-at-Law.
Critic IS NOT. Ms. Manickchand’s government portfolio invariably spans the education spectrum in Guyana and thousands of children of all age becomes her responsibility. Should the children/ parents see/hear of Critic’s public abuse of Ms. Manickchand, I surmise that that would be counterproductive to the Ministry of Education and by default, the Government of Guyana.
Editor, whilst I would defend one right to freedom of speech, I categorically decry Critic’s abusive language, particularly to Ms. Manickchand, and generally to all women. His theatrical antics and spewed emotions may garner a cult following but his total disrespect for our Guyanese womenfolk, in particular, should NEVER be condoned at any level and in any fora.
Though freedom of speech in a democracy is guaranteed, certain caveats are embedded therein. At the very least Critic should offer an unequivocal apology to ALL women including Ms. Manickchand for the vulgar and revolting excrement that gushed from his mouth. Additionally, I petition the Government of Guyana, whose largesse, Critic seems to be enjoying, to put a leash on Critic unless there are invisible motives for his vile continuance.
Respectfully,
Jonathan Subrian, Esq.
