Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) yesterday announced the appointment of Pushpargha Chattopadhyay as its new General Secretary. The Indian national is expected to officially assume duties on August 1.
According to the GFF, Chattopadhyay’s selection follows a rigorous international recruitment process conducted in collaboration with FIFA. The search attracted over 40 candidates from across all five of FIFA’s global confederations.
In his role as General Secretary, Chattopadhyay will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the GFF Secretariat, implementing the strategic vision of the Federation’s President and Executive Council, and ensuring that the GFF’s activities remain aligned with the goals of both Concacaf and FIFA.
With more than 15 years of experience in football administration, Chattopadhyay brings a strong background in strategic leadership and organizational development, having worked across some of Asia’s most competitive football landscapes.
He has held several senior roles within the All-India Football Federation (AIFF), including Head of State Development, Head of Clubs and Licensing, and Head of Administration in the Technical Department.
The noted, that Chattopadhyay also served as CEO of the Indian Football Association (West Bengal) and worked as a Senior Project Consultant at Ernst & Young LLP.
Chattopadhyay holds an MBA from Vancouver Island University in Canada and a Master’s in International Business from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK. He is fluent in English, Hindi, and Bengali.
