Kaieteur Sports – The tarmac of the National Cultural Centre came alive on Saturday last as Yarrowkabra Secondary School (YSS) captured the 2025 Inter -Secondary Schools Challenge Trophy by defeating Beterverwagting (BV) Secondary School in an exciting final of the tape ball cricket competition.
Batting first, BV Secondary posted a competitive 68-4, thanks largely to a fluent 33 from the in-form Khemraj Hajraj. His stroke-filled innings gave BV a solid platform, though Yarrowkabra’s Leon James pegged them back with figures of 2-22.
In response, Yarrowkabra chased down the target in fine style. Wazin Ali led the charge with a stylish 30, ably supported by Alex Paul who added a quickfire 28. Their partnership powered YSS to 70-3, sealing victory with deliveries to spare and crowning them 2025 champions.
During the post-match presentation, hosted by James Lewis, YSS’s Jaydon Peters was named Player of the Tournament for his consistent all-round performances throughout the competition.
