Cocaine and pineapple found in passenger bagLede: A speedboat passenger traveling from Parika to Bartica was arrested on Wednesday with 875 grams of cocaine at the Bartica Stelling.
Kaieteur News – A speedboat passenger traveling from Parika to Bartica was arrested on Wednesday afternoon with 875 grams of cocaine at the Bartica Stelling.
Police in a statement said that the male passenger was acting suspicious when he was approached by officers, who requested his permission to conduct a search on his personal belongings, and he agreed.
“During a search of a plastic bag which the man had in his hand that contained a pineapple, the rank discovered twenty-eight (28) plastic packages concealed in another plastic bag. The packages contained a rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine,” police said.
The traveler was made aware of the offence, cautioned and arrested, and was taken to the Bartica Police Station where the suspected narcotics was weighed and amounted to 875 grams. Moreover, while at the station when questioned, the man admitted ownership of the cocaine and told the ranks that he was transporting it on behalf of his friend (name provided), who resides at Third Avenue, Bartica. Officers after receiving that information was able to arrest the friend and both men were placed into custody and are assisting with the investigation.
