Kaieteur Sports – EDGE Sports Management (ESM) has officially launched the 2025 EDGE Series, a landmark multi-sport event set to take place from July 12 to 20 in Georgetown.
The series will showcase 3×3 Basketball, Table Tennis, and Criterium Cycling, positioning Guyanese athletes at the center of a professionally organized, nationally visible stage.
Created with a vision to elevate and empower local athletes, the EDGE Series serves as a long-overdue platform for homegrown talent to shine on home soil. In a country where athletes often gain recognition only after competing abroad, this initiative seeks to shift the narrative.
The 2025 edition of the EDGE Series is being hosted in collaboration with key national bodies, including the Guyana Basketball Federation, the Guyana Table Tennis Association, and the Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycling Club.
These, partnerships, according to an ESM release, ensure that the event meets international standards while fostering development within the local sporting ecosystem.
What sets the EDGE Series apart is its holistic vision, the group stated.
Beyond the thrill of competition, the series emphasizes pride, visibility, and opportunity for athletes of all levels, from emerging juniors to national representatives.
It aims to build stronger community engagement, nurture a passionate fan base for local sports, and create a clear developmental pathway to regional and international competition.
Olympian, Chelsea Edghill, CEO of EDGE Sports Management and a respected athlete in her own right, expressed the heart behind the initiative.
“The EDGE Series is for Guyanese athletes first,” Edghill stated “We want to celebrate them, challenge them, and most importantly, show them and the country just how valuable their talent is. This is our opportunity to rally behind local sport and move it forward together.”
Events will be hosted at major venues across Georgetown, including the National Gymnasium and downtown circuits designed for the highly anticipated night-time criterium cycling races.
The series is also expected to attract regional competitors, offering Guyanese athletes the chance to test their skills against top-tier opposition.
In addition to competition, the EDGE Series aims to encourage collaboration between sports federations and organizations, working to strengthen the systems that support athlete development in Guyana.
Further event schedules, athlete rosters, and ticketing details will be released in the coming weeks.
