Kaieteur Sports- The Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Regional Conference continued with electrifying results across Georgetown and Berbice, as several schools showcased dominant performances in their pursuit of championship glory.
In Georgetown, New Central High outclassed West Demerara, securing a comfortable 35-13 win. Leading the charge for New Central was Stephan Duke, who posted 12 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Alistare Adams added 11 points and 3 boards, while Lateef Moffatt contributed 6 points and 6 rebounds. For West Demerara, Brandon Nurse stood out with 7 points and 5 rebounds in a valiant effort.
St. Rose’s High edged past a resilient President’s College team in a thrilling 35-31 encounter. Nathan Williams led St. Rose’s with 13 points and 6 rebounds, supported by Cryston Williams’ 8 points and 7 rebounds. Malachi Atwell chipped in with 6 points. President’s College stayed close behind, with Ricardo Ramlall delivering a strong all-around performance, knocking down 11 points including 5 rebounds, and 5 steals. Omarie Grandison added 10 points and grabbed 8 boards.
Brickdam Secondary displayed solid teamwork in their 21-9 victory over Tutorial High. Dontarian Denny was the standout performer, scoring 15 points and collecting 8 rebounds, while Leon Smith contributed 5 points.
Meanwhile in another encounter, Queens College steamrolled Marian Academy with a dominant 67-4 result. It was a scoring clinic from Darren Dublin, who exploded for 37 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Liam Bart also had a strong showing, adding 9 points to the tally.
Over in the Berbice region, semifinal action turned into a display of offensive firepower. New Amsterdam Secondary routed Lower Corentyne 80-10, with Tyrese Archer dropping 31 points and Trence Henery close behind with 28. Pavishkar Persaud added 10 to round out the scoring.
In the second semifinal, Berbice High secured a 51-13 win over JC Chandisingh, led by Avion Kesney’s 14 points. Shimran Jafer and Stephen Butchana followed with 11 and 10 points respectively, punching their ticket to the regional final.
