Kaieteur Sports- Four swimming clubs from Georgetown will invade Linden tomorrow (Monday) morning to contest the Toroedo Swim Club’s annual swim meet which takes place at the Toucan Mall Swim Pool.
According to Torpedo’s swim coach and official, Ms. Mary Chung-Phillips the tour clubs from the Capital City are the Orca, Seatta, Dorado and Silver Sharks whose swimmers will challenge what Linden’s Torpedo club has to offer.
The meet director Ms. Chung-Phillips informed that 47 events are carded for the day where several trophies and medals will be on offer for the top swimmers compliments of Canada-based Lindener John Trim and his brothers.
This swim meet is expected to help raise much-needed funds to assist the Torpedo club in participating in upcoming swim meets in Georgetown later this month and in July.
Linden swimmer Fitzroy Thom who recently was voted as Chairman of the newly established Swimmers Council is among those participants from the Torpedo swimming outfit.
While all swimmers will warm up from 8:00 am, the meet begins at 9:00 am and the general public is invited to support the swim meet.
