2025 GCB Men’s U19 inter-county 50-Over tournament
Kaieteur Sports- Both the Berbice and GCB Select XI recorded comprehensive wins yesterday when action resumed in the GCB Men’s U19 inter-county 50-Over tournament.
Berbice beat Essequibo by 4-wickets
At Eve Leary, the Cinderella County boys were kept to 113 all out and managed to get past a 100 after tail-enders Teddy Wong (19), Ashton Simmons (21) and Gulcharran Chulai (16) got into double figures.
Berbice saw good returns from Micah Amsterdam (3-18) and Salim Khan (4-30), who set the platform for the Ancient County side’s batting chase which saw them end on 116-6.
Opener Sanjay Algoo hit a 16-ball 34 (3×4 2×6) with support from Afraz Ali Budhu (17) and skipper Matthew Pottaya (21*), as Essequibo’s Chulai returned to snatch 3-23 in a losing effort.
GCB XI beat Demerara by 29-runs
At LBI Ground, GCB XI posted 206 all out after Parmeshwar Ram led with 67 and Romario Ramdehol 42, with a useful 36 coming from Johnathan Mentore.
Demerara’s spinner Nityanand Mathura starred with 4-28, as his teammates in Sachin Balgobin (57), Vemol Lall (38) and Kelvin Raymond (21*) failed to keep their team from being restricted to 177 all out.
Ramdehol completed a good game with returns of 5-34 which carried his team’s bowling, with Mentore picking up two wickets.
