Kaieteur Sports- The Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC) is expected to come alive today when that entity hosts their one-day Easter horserace meet at the club’s track, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice.
There are eight races listed for the day’s programme with close to $10M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.

A keen contest is in the making for the feature event which is open to all horses in Guyana. All the top horses in Guyana have taken entry and a close and exciting race is in the making.
With Olympic Kremlin leading the entries, the others are Mapa Do Brazil, Loyal company, Anthem King, Spankhurst, Royal Man, John Bull, Frontline Warrior, Bossilina, Ritorna Vincetori, Beckham James and Stormy Victory.
The winner is expected to race away with a sumptuous $1.5M and trophy compliments of the Habibullah Family, K.P. Jagdeo Construction and the PMTC.
There is the three-year-old event which is Open to Guyana and Trinidad bred horses which has a winning purse of $500,000 and trophy.
The event for the E and lower non-winners in Guyana has a winners take of $500,000 and trophy. A keen contest is anticipated in the G class gallop for the $400,00 and trophy first prize reward.
Animals classified H and lower that has won since August 2024 will be racing for a take home reward of $300,000 and trophy.
The animals classified J and K will be competing for a pole position taking of $300,000 and trophy.
There is a race for horses classified J3 and lower maiden and is also open to 3 years old Guyana Bred animals and will see the winner taking away $300,000 and trophy.
The final event is for animals classified L and lower where the winner will also be rewarded with $300,000 and trophy.
The Trophy Stall once again will be on board with sponsorship for the top individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable.
Over 55 horses have taken entry with bugle time set for 12.00 hrs.
