2025 CWI Rising Stars U15 championships Round 2…Guy. VS Jam.
Kaieteur Sports- Guyana failed to maintain a win-streak as they were steamrolled by 7-wickets courtesy of the Jamaicans who won a rain-affected battle at the Antigua Recreation Ground, St. John’s yesterday.
After rain provided a slight scare early on, Guyana’s batting innings imploded with opening batsman Justin Dowlin (15), Arif Bacchus (22), Reyaz Latif (17) and Lomar Seecharran (12) struggling to get out of the blocks.
Jamaica did well to restrict their opponents to 104 in 28.1 overs, thanks to returns of 4-14 from Andrew Lloyd with Eckoney Robinson chipping in with 2-38.
With a low total needed for victory, the Jamaicans skipped to 106-3 in 29 overs flat, thanks to a steady 38 from opener Jayden Shawh, who struck 7 fours.
Middle-order batsman, Tesfa Ward (25) and wicket-keeper Luain Prince (19*), provided the necessary finishing touches needed to take Jamaica home.
Skipper Richard Ramdehol spun his way to 2-13 while Patrice Fraser bagged one wicket to headline a dismal bowling performance from Guyana.
Guyana will shift focus to their next encounter which bowls off tomorrow, Saturday, against the Windward Islands at the same venue. (C. Ross)
