Kaieteur News- A 59-year-old landscaper was released on $25,000 bail on Monday, when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.
Murtland Cameron of Lot 59 Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was charged with assaulting Daniel Iwuamadi on April 2, 2025 at Survival Snackette on Vlissengen Road, Georgetown.
Cameron pleaded guilty with explanation after the charge was read to him by Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
He told the court that every day he would go to the snackette to make several purchases. On the day in question, he said Iwuamadi began to abuse him verbally. Cameron said that a family member of Iwuamadi also attacked him with a bottle. He later attempted to file a police report, but the rank at the station refused to take his statement.
Iwuamadi told the court that Cameron hit him with a wood.
Magistrate Azore recorded a not guilty plea after hearing Cameron’s explanation. He was granted bail and will return to court on May 12, 2025.
