Kaieteur News has confirmed the death of a man who was stabbed in the early hours of Sunday morning on Market Street, Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara.
The incident occurred around 02:00 hrs and involved a 48-year-old man. His identity is unknown to this publication at this time.
Assistant Commissioner of Police and Commander of Region 4’C’, Khali Pareshram, confirmed the stabbing but indicated that the matter is still under investigation. He noted that he could not release further details as they have not yet been fully verified. According to residents of the area and individuals who heard about the incident, two men were allegedly on a motorcycle and approached the victim, who was described as a “Spanish man”. One of the suspects, armed with a knife, began stabbing the victim, after which they robbed him of cash before fleeing the scene.
