Kaieteur Sports- The Tactical Services Unit (TSU) and Region #2 have booked respective spots in the semi-finals of the ongoing Commissioner’s T20 Cricket Tournament.
The lawmen earned qualifications after defeating Regions 4’A’ & ‘B’ and Region #5 on Tuesday after a pair of thrilling matches played at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.
Batting first, TSU posted 214-8 from their allotted 120 deliveries, only to restrict Regional Division 4 A & B to a modest 147-6 as they went down by 67 runs.
In the battle between Region #2 and Region #5, the latter posted 173-6 in 20 overs, as they’re opponent wasted no time in surging to 174-3 in the 14th over, handing their opponents a 7-wicket defeat.
Damion Vantull led with a robust 97 which featured some 10 sixes and six fours, as well as a well-constructed 29 from Fazeer Khan helped see their team home.
Meanwhile, action continues as Region #2 will battle the Officers team today, as teams look to get past the semi rounds with a crucial final bout looming.
