Kaieteur News- Moving forward with the construction of the massive Hope-like canal for Region Three, the government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, is now seeking an expression of interest (EOI) for the project.
The National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) will be executing the project. It stated in its tender document that the construction of the canal will be at B-Line, Canals Polder, Region Three.
With no engineer’s estimate provided at this time, the agency noted that the project is for a six-month period.
Detailing the responsibilities of the selected contractor, NDIA explained that the contractor will be tasked with the construction of earthen canal and adjoining embankment to lines and levels, as stated in the Standards and Specification document provided by the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority.
The contractor is to take all necessary precautions when constructing the canals’ embankment and preserve the material below and beyond the lines of excavation in the soundest possible condition.
