Kaieteur News- A 36-year-old woman was placed on bail on Tuesday, when she appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.
Astashia Cornette, of Coldingen Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce.
Cornette allegedly assaulted Basmattie Kaladin, also known as ‘Sarah’. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. The incident occurred on March 18, 2025 at Coldingen.
The court heard that Kaladin sustained several bruises about her body and head. Magistrate Scarce granted Cornette bail in the sum of $25,000, with the condition that she must not enter Kaladin’s premises. The magistrate also placed the women on a keep-the-peace bond.
