Kaieteur News- A 35-year-old woman was placed on $25,000 bail after she appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with threatening language.
Vernoique Singh of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown was charged for allegedly threatening a 9-year-old girl on February 20, 2025 at St. Margaret’s Primary School. Singh pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to her by Senior Magistrate Fabyo Azore.
The prosecution stated that the incident occurred at the school after a dispute between Singh’s son and the girl. The mother of the 9-year-old told the court that she found her daughter crying and when she asked her what happened, she was made aware that Singh threatened to hit her. The mother added that this is not the first time Singh threatened to harm her child. Magistrate Azore granted $25,000 bail to Singh on the condition that she stays 50ft away from the child. The matter was adjourned to April 9, 2025.
