Kaieteur News- A 28-year-old taxi driver was on Wednesday granted $400,000 bail when he appeared at the Suddie Magistrates’ Court for damaging a car.
Navindra Latchman called ‘Rocky’, of Queenstown, Essequibo Coast is accused of maliciously damaging a Nissan Tida motor car valued $2,400,000 belonging to Cleedon Mercurius.
The incident occurred on November 19, 2024 at Henrietta Essequibo Coast.
He appeared before Magistrate Tamieka Clake who read the charge to him. Latchman pleaded not guilty and was granted bail. He is scheduled to return to court on April 1, 2025 for disclosure.
Notably, Latchman is no stranger to the law. In February 2023, he was charged with rape of a child under sixteen years.
He appeared at the Suddie Magistrates’ Court virtually before Magistrate Crystal Lambert. It is alleged that between February and June 2022, at Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, the accused engaged in sexual acts with a child who was below the age of sixteen.
Latchman was placed on $250,000 bail with conditions that he relocate from Queenstown, Essequibo Coast to Riverstown, Essequibo Coast.
Additionally, in October 2024, Latchman was also charged with the offence of ‘Attempt to Commit Murder’, committed on Akeelah Maynard. The accused appeared at the Charity Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Clarke. He was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to prison.
