Kaieteur News-A Bartica man had a fiery death on Friday after he crashed head-on into a truck, along the Region Seven trail.
The dead man was identified as 45-year-old Faizal Husman, also known as “Junior”, of Four Miles, Potaro Road, Region Seven. Police said that Husman met his tragic demise around 06:45 hours at Eight Miles, also known as Teperu, Bartica.
Husman’s vehicle was reportedly transporting barrels of fuel in its tray at the time of the crash and they reportedly exploded on impact. Kaieteur News understands that Husman might have been heading to Itabali.
Police said that Husman’s pick-up and the truck were heading in opposite directions along the trail when tragedy struck.
“The driver of the Pickup lost control and collided head-on with the lorry (Tuck). Husman’s vehicle burst into flames as it flipped into a corner along the trail trapping him.”
The driver of the truck and his passengers also sustained injuries. One of the passengers, identified, as Venish Sunnchan, sustained a fractured right foot. Kaieteur News received a cell phone recorded video of public-spirited citizens assisting in rushing him and other injured persons to the Bartica Hospital.
A wrecked truck was seen in the middle of the trail with Husman’s pick-up in the background, engulfed in flames. Burning debris were scattered across the road as some persons were seen scampering to safety as loud popping sounds were still coming from the burning pick-up.
“The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) was summoned and on arrival, the firemen extinguished the fire,” Police said. Videos of Husman’s charred remains were seen being removed, in the presence of Police, from his burnt vehicle.
Following the news of his tragic demise, his friends and loved ones flooded their WhatsApp statuses and Facebook pages with tributes, “RIP Junior”.
They described him as a “beautiful soul”.
