Kaieteur News – A 43-year-old labourer of Lima Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, was remanded to prison on Wednesday for having in his possession forged Guyana currency.
The accused Anand Alphonso called ‘Dolo’, was arrested on August 6, 2024 and later charged on Wednesday. Alphonso appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke who read the charge to him in which he pleaded not guilty to.
The prosecutor objected to bail citing the seriousness and prevalence of the offence. As a result, Alphonso was remanded to prison and is scheduled to return to court on August 27, 2024.
