Kaieteur Sports – Former Guyana first-class opener Krishna Arjune struck an unbeaten 68 to propel Better-Hope to a convincing, 10-wicket win against defending champions Carr Tec Sports Club last Sunday in the continuation of the 2024 Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs Over-40, B Division T20 competition.
The right-handed Arjune slammed 6 sixes and two fours at Littles ground in Scarborough where unbeaten Better-Hope reached 127-0 with 57 balls to spare after Carr Tec Sports Club had only tallied up a modest 123-6 from the allocated 20-overs.
Arjune, who featured in 40 regional four-day games for his native country at the Cricket West Indies tournament from 2001 to 2009, got good support from Jai Singh who caressed two sixes and three fours in his 45.
Earlier, Carr Tec Sports Club called correctly at the toss and decided to bat first. Safraz Abjal top-scored with 35, while ex-Essequibo Senior Inter-County player Jaimini Singh contributed 30 and 22 from the veteran batsman Suresh Persaud.
Mahendra Monelall was the pick of the bowler for Better-Hope by claiming 2-9 from three tidy overs.
