Kaieteur Sports – The South Dakota Circuit ignited as Guyanese racing sensation, Vishok Persaud, delivered an outstanding performance at the ENet Caribbean Clash of Champions on Sunday, emerging as the top Group 4 driver, breaking lap records, and dominating the final race of the day at the nation’s premier race circuit.
Driving his ENet-branded KTM X-Bow, Persaud made an electrifying start by shaving nearly a second off the Group 4 lap record during the truncated opening race of the ‘Greatest Race of All Time.’ The race, unfortunately, had to be red-flagged at the completion of four of the scheduled eight laps due to mechanical issues and unsafe track conditions.

In the second Group 4 race, Persaud set the fastest time of the day with an impressive 1:16.691s on the second lap during the Group 4/Unlimited race, surpassing the previous record of 1:17.527s set by Mark Vieira’s Mazda RX-8 at the South Dakota Grand Prix last July.
Despite the challenges faced by many other competitors, Persaud’s performance was unmatched. He not only dominated the race but also enthralled thousands of fans who had gathered to witness the action at the November race meet. The crowd cheered him on as he crossed the finish line in grand style.
After the race, Persaud attributed his success to his team, saying, “We just run a reliable car consistently, and that was the plan. I’m just so happy that the last race came off so well, because you know a lot of people came out to see the big cars, so I think it was a good success, but it was Roger (Yuen), John, and the guys really. I just show up and drive, so I was happy to be given a car that could finish all the laps, which is key now at South Dakota – having something that is reliable.”
The race was marked by several ups and downs, with red flags and mechanical issues plaguing the first and second Group 4 races. Race officials had to halt the first race due to unsafe track conditions, with Guyanese Vishok Persaud in a commanding position, followed by other skilled drivers.
The second Group 4 race was also red-flagged on the first lap following an accident involving Jamaican Doug Gore and Guyanese Kevin Jeffrey, forcing both competitors out of the final race. This left Vishok Persaud to dominate the proceedings.
In the fading light at South Dakota, Persaud put on a spectacular show, prevailing in a tight battle with Mark Vieira, who spun off during the third lap but managed to secure a distant second place. Lennard Samaroo of Team CAMS finished third, being the only other driver to complete the full course.
