Kaieteur News – The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) believes that a resolution of the current conflict in the Middle East is a precondition for global peace.
Global peace is necessary for, among other things, the continued development of the Global economy, to create the conditions to resolve a number of pressing Global problems such as climate change and the movement of refugees, the party said in a press release.
According to the PNCR a lack of peace, especially in the Middle East, can cause mankind to confront problems of unprecedented magnitude and significance, noting that a peaceful Middle East is therefore essential for world peace.
“That peace, in general terms, must be based on a solution which makes provision for the Palestinian to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and for the state of Israel to live within secure borders.”
To this end the PNCR condemns all acts of aggression. “We condemn the actions on Saturday 7, October by Hamas and Israel’s attempt to impose collective punishment on the people of Palestine who inhabit the Gaza Strip, regardless of whether they were complicit or not in the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7th. The PNCR wishes to underscore the fact that the Palestinian problem predated Saturday 7, October and a proper assessment of the evolution of the problem is needed if there is going to be a peaceful settlement of the Israeli/Palestinian problem.”
The PNCR also called for an immediate ceasefire and for there to be a negotiated solution to the matter in accordance with the right of Palestinians to self-determination and for Israel to live in peace within its borders. While every nation has the right to self-defense, we prefer a world in which no nation has to exercise that right and all and sundry must operate within the confines of international law and pursue the pacific settlement of all Middle Eastern disputes.
