Kaieteur Sports – After being interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the inclement weather and other factors, the final of the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) Price Is Right Supermarket T20 cricket tournament, which began in March 2022, is set for this Sunday.
The competition which is being played for teams in the Upper Corentyne and Black Bush Areas had reached the final stage and the date was set when it was stopped due to the Pandemic.
The finals, which will be played at the No. 69 Vikings Grounds, will see Jukes town Warriors and No 72 Cut and Load battling for supremacy.
Two other games will be played on the day with the losing semifinalists, No72 A Spartans and No 69 Red Rose clashing in a five overs encounter for third place.
The day’s proceedings will begin with a female five overs game between Crabwood Wood Creek and No 65.
The competition, which was played on a knockout basis, saw some 27 teams participating.
The Price is Right Supermarket which is a regular sponsor of cricket competition in the area has branches located at No.79 Public Road, Corriverton and the Skeldon Market.
Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams while the two losing semifinalist will also take home a sizable sum. There will also be rewards for outstanding individual players.
A day of sports is also planned with Crown Vibes Sound System expected to be in attendance to spice up the activity.
The UCCA is being led by businessman Dennis D’Andrade. The competition is being coordinated by The UCCA competitions committee, which is being led by former National wicketkeeper batsman Sydney Jackman.
First ball is expected to bowl at 11:00 hrs. (Samuel Whyte)
