Dear Editor,
Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him): The Mystical Master and Genius of Peace
Peace and Blessings be upon all (As-salamu alaykum). The Prophet of Islam came at a time to create that reconciliation between Man and Man and Man and God. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) was born in an era of darkness, immorality, intolerance and violence which existed not only in Arabia, but in religions, in countries of the world where morals and philosophies were all at a low end as the Quran says:“Or (the unbelievers’ state) is like the darkness in a deep sea. It is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds. Darknesses, one above another. If a man stretches out his hand, he cannot see it….” (Quran 24:40)
The Arabs were always at each other’s throats creating factions of murder, mayhem, confusion and lust. But Allah’s messenger was able to unite them in love for the Creator and themselves. They were a people like beast in their village jungles; beast with urges for blood; beast with urges in passion and hate even transcending generations to generations creating a constant state of warfare and feud among the Arabs. As He was touched by God Almighty and embraced by Angel Gabriel to harness the mystical powers from the Creator, hence He refined these cravings, lust and aspirations of the Arabs to become lovers of God Almighty and protectors of each other as Muslims. The Arabs were idolatrous, far away from any idea of divine unity between Man and the Universal Creator. Yet he was able to create a wholesome environment of sincere worship to the one Universal Creator, Lord of the Worlds.
The Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) although sinless, always prayed for salvation for his people, salvation of his descendants and even for our sins as Muslims to this age. His prayers would last many hours in the Islamic form of worship, that his legs would swell just begging God to forgive his ummah (His community) from his time and for all times. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) prayed for and ensured with the promise of God Almighty that his entire community of Muslims would all go to paradise (Albeit that they must serve their period of purification as decreed by the Creator). He wanted us to be totally enmeshed in the spiritual mantle of God’s love as a garment of grace with the compassion of the Universal Creator. For us to be in perfect communion with God Almighty.
When there was confusion among the people such as at the reconstruction of the Kaaba, as to whom or which clan will carry the main corner stone of the kaaba he advised that it be placed on a material that all of the clan leaders can hold together and go put it in place. A simple fact that establishes the heart of peace of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). On becoming the leader of Arabia and of many countries including Egypt he created a Treaty of Freedom that guaranteed the St. Catherine’s Christians in the monastery in Mount Sinai in 628, the 6thyear of the Hegira, is a mighty guide as to the Holy Prophet’s desire for interreligious peace. This epic treaty is unique in man’s history and basically it states:
“This is the document which Muhammad, the son of Abdullah, God’s Prophet, Warner and Bearer of glad tidings has caused to be written so that there should remain no excuse for those coming after. I have caused this document to be written for the Christians of the East and West, for those who live near, and for those of the distant lands, for the Christians living at present and for those who will come after, for those Christians who are known to us and for those as well whom we do not know.
No bishop will be expelled from his bishopric, no monk from his monastery, no priest from his place of worship, and no pilgrim will be detained in his pilgrimage. None of their churches or other places of worship will be desolated or destroyed or demolished. No material of their churches will be used to build mosques or houses for the Muslims; any Muslim doing so will be regarded as recalcitrant to God and His Prophet. Monks and Bishops will be subject to no poll tax or indemnity whether they live in forests or on rivers, in the East or in the West, in the North or in the South. I give them my word of honour. They are on my promise and covenant and will enjoy perfect immunity from all sorts of inconveniences. Every help shall be given to them in the repair of their churches. They shall be absolved of wearing arms. They shall be protected by the Muslims. Let this document not be disobeyed till Judgement Day.” (Signed: Muhammad, the Messenger of God. ([Letters of the Messenger])(Tommy Kallon-The Holy Prophet: A Messenger of Peace and Reconciliation”).
And in his final sermon he said this:
“O men, your God is One and your ancestor is one. An Arab possesses no superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab over an Arab. A white man is in no way superior to a black nor for that matter is a black man better than a white, but only to the extent to which he discharges his duty to God and man. The most honoured among you in the sight of God is the most righteous among you…
Even as this month is sacred, this land inviolate, and this day holy, so has God made the lives, property and honour of every man sacred. To take any man’s life or his property, or attack his honour, is as unjust and wrong as to violate the sacredness of this day, this month, and this territory. What I command you today is not meant only for today. It is meant for all time.(Tommy Kallon-The Holy Prophet: A Messenger of Peace and Reconciliation”).
While the Holy Qurandescribes him as superior to all prophets. The Prophet Muhammad, (PBUH) never said he was superior. He used such words as: “Listen! Do not exalt me above Moses and do not put me above other Prophets”(Sahih Bukhari; Kitab udDiyat; 1810). Islam as managed by the holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) established the criterion for social peace which time would not permit me here to discuss. He created the criterion for international peace. The criterion for economic peace and justice for all peoples. He established the inter religious peace and stated that: “O people, be aware: your God is One. No Arab has any superiority over a non-Arab, and no non-Arab any superiority over an Arab, and no white one has any superiority over a black one, and no black one any superiority over a white one, except on the basis of taqwa (piety). The most honorable among you in the sight of Allah is he who is the most pious and righteous of you.” [ SURAH AL-HUJURAT AYAT 13 (49:13 QURAN) ].
He was undoubtedly the creator of National Peace in Arabia. A quote from the Holy Quran reveals onto him in the aspect of national and international peace:
Verily, Allah commands you to make over the trusts to those entitled to them, and that, when you judge between men, you judge with justice. And surely excellent is that with which Allah admonishes you! Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. (Ch.4:V.59).
A point to note here on this is that it did not say among “Muslims” it said among “Men.” Therefore, one cannot be prejudiced for a Muslim when one passes a judgment, if a Muslim be in the wrong. There is so much more, but I would close this message at this juncture and wish the nation of Guyana a Happy, HappyYouman Nabi; filled with reflective thoughts and wisdom especially His Excellency Dr. Irfaan Ali, The Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, Prime Minister Mark Phillips, Our Cabinet, The Leader of the Opposition. And to all Guyanese a truly peaceful Youman Nabi and may God Almighty bless us with the blessings of wisdom that we have in Guyana.
Sincerely,
Haji Dr. Roshan Khan
National Chairman Guyana Islamic Federation
