Dem Boys Seh…
Kaieteur News – Fuh eight years, between 1975 and 1982, de CARICOM did not hold any Summits. Dese days dem holding more than one every year but with de same result as between 1975 and 1982 – not much is happening.
Yet like clockwork, our leaders fly out to these conferences as if their country’s future depends on it. Yuh would believe that if dem nah attend, that there would be serious repercussions. And dem does gat big Opening Ceremony. Every country gat to show off its entertainment industry and how to out-guest to sleep with long, boring speeches.
But now is not de time fuh de Caribbean fuh go to sleep. Dem boys saying that de Caribbean is in crisis and it needs a special summit fuh discuss de crisis. No is not climate change. No is not any natural disaster.
De biggest crisis is in West Indies Cricket and dem boys hearing very little about this topic during the present summit. But perhaps dem Heads gan spring a surprise and include something about de state of West Indian cricket in de final communique.
Dem Heads should not try to get involve in managing West Indies cricket. Dat is not dem role. De ICC gan expel de West Indies from international cricket if we political leaders try fuh meddle in de management of West Indian cricket.
Wah dem should do is to order a whole container of headache-relieving tablets because right now is sheer headache in de Caribbean. If it not from de West Indies failing to qualify for the World Cup ODI, is de flu.
Talk half. Leff half.
