Kaieteur News – A 26-year-old motorcyclist died on Friday in a vehicular accident along the Leonora Public Road, WCD.
Dead is Muneshwar Singh of Cornelia Ida, WCD.
According to reports, the accident occurred just around 18:02hrs and involved a motorcycle CL 9563, owned and driven by Amir Ruplal, a 19-year-old of Anna Catherina, WCD, and another motorcycle CM 1052 owned by Singh.
It was reported to the police that Ruplal was heading east along the northern side of the road at a fast rate and overtook a red motorcar when he ended up losing control of his motorcycle, which flipped and collided with Singh’s cycle which was travelling in the opposite direction.
As a result of the collision, both drivers fell onto the roadway and received injuries about their bodies.
Reports are Singh was picked up by residents in the area in an unconscious state, while Ruplal was picked up in a conscious state.
The two were rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where they received medical treatment. Kaieteur News understands that Singh succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
The 19-year-old motorcyclist was treated and later sent away, after which he was arrested and placed into custody.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on him and no trace of alcohol was found in his system.
Singh’s body is at Sandy’s Funeral Home, awaiting a post mortem examination.
