Kaieteur News – Sources acquainted with the alleged rape and sodomy of an indigenous school girl by a government minister, is alleging that a female regional official is responsible for setting up the connection between them.
Kaieteur News understands that the minister met the school girl at a regional competition. According to sources, the minister chosed her because she was the youngest participating in the event. Kaieteur News learnt that he tried to use other female participants in the same event to lure her to him but she had shunned him.
“He was sending the girls them to call her and she refused,” one source alleged.
The school girl eventually won the event and the minister seized the opportunity “to groom her into his trap with the help of a female regional official”
“The Region gave her money, remember she win it, suh dem give her like a stipend but he sent a personal money and additional cash with (the female regional official) for her,” the source said.
It soon began circulating that the minister will be endorsing her to win the next round of the competition so she could compete in the finals which were held in the capital city. Kaieteur News understands that official had even promised to swing the competition in her favour so that she could win.
It is believed that these alleged actions by the minister gained him the school girl’s trust and the two became close acquaintances.
Months later allegations surfaced that he had raped and sodomized her at his home in the city.
Kaieteur News on Saturday reported, that a 16-year-old Indigenous girl alleged that a government minister has raped and sodomised her. The teen in a detailed letter to President Irfaan Ali said, “Dear President Ali, Cabinet Members, private sector, members of the diplomatic community, citizens of Guyana, I would like to let you know what Minister [name provided] has done to me. It’s because I’m scared for my life that I am doing this. I see no other way. [Name provided] has preyed upon me, groomed me and raped me,” the letter stated.
She had even written graphic details of rape and sodomy. Kaieteur News understands that after the allegations surfaced, the minister met the family and settled the matter, forcing her to recant the allegations.
Meanwhile, Guyana’s President Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Sunday stated that Local Government Minister Nigel Dharamlall has chosen to proceed on administrative leave to facilitate a probe after rape allegations were leveled against him.
