Kaieteur Sports – The inclement weather has already started to take its toll on some outdoor activities in Guyana. One such activity affected is the Horse race meet organized by the Rising Sun Turf Club. The one day Independence Horse Race meet was slated for today, Sunday May 28 at the Club’s track Rising Sun Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.
Over $6M in cash, trophies and other memorabilia were at stake with Banks DIH Limited headlining the list of sponsors on board.
The postponement has left owners, other connections and fans disappointed. There were seven races listed for the day and a number of horses had taken entry. Most had completed their preparation for what was proposed to be an exciting day of racing.
A new date will be announced in due course. (Samuel Whyte)
