Dear Editor,
Throughout history and also today, atrocities were and are being committed on innocent people by armies, mobs, and gangs. Yet, there is one denominator in all of this as to why people commit these attacks on innocent people, the denominator being, an evil voice told them to commit these attacks since the perpetrators just didn’t or do evil on their own accord.
Someone in leadership always instructs armies, mobs, and gangs to commit evil, even serial killers use this as a defense that an evil voice told them to kill innocent people. The recent rants from the voice of Tacuma Ogunseye should be taken seriously since sectarian violence is like a virus, it starts from patient zero and then spreads until it becomes a pandemic. Why doesn’t Tacuma tell his followers that when his party was in power, they gave away the oil and voted to waive taxes for the oil companies that would have solved his supporters’ problems? Rather than blaming others for their financial problems. There are other evil voices speaking in Guyana less dramatic than Tacuma’s racist rant, but speak evil nevertheless. Like the constant lies from the Government and opposition parties about oil and other important affairs regarding Guyana, and the vocal support for Tacuma from the Opposition Leader Norton and other opposition politicians.
At a recent Berbice rally, the VP said Trinidad produced oil for over a century and never had full cover insurance, so why do Guyana need insurance? Why would people at this rally applaud this statement from the VP is still churning in my mind as I can’t comprehend this level of irresponsibility from those in attendance for the sake of their own lives. A voice told Ramoutar to sign away the oil blocks, a voice told Trotman to sign away the oil, and Jordan’s own voice told him to waive taxes for oil companies. When the oil finds in Guyana made world news, President Maduro of Venezuela on a podcast said Essequibo belong to his country and he would not abide by the UN border agreement, with an army close to 350,000 strong compared to Guyana 3,500. With regular arms shipment and military advisors from Russia going to Venezuela, Guyana should take notice and check the history of border wars when one country gets rich and the other jealous. The US Ambassador along with John Hess and Alistair Routledge continue to tell Guyana to abide by the sanctity of contract and accept the terms of the current contract as is.
Ambassador, Mr. Hess, and Mr. Routledge, Guyana have done that for 4 projects already. All Guyanese are asking for are taxes, full cover insurance, and environmental compliance, which is the policy of your own country the USA. Why can your country have these wonderful things and not Guyana? Seems Guyanese are the richest citizens per capita in the world and also the biggest pushovers where any foreigner can come and trample on Guyanese rights and fair share of their wealth with impunity, as Guyana’s parliamentarians watch in silence and the government even provides lawyers to defend the foreigners against Guyanese. Guyanese your good voices must be heard louder than those of the evil ones, whether they are from domestic or foreign sources. The loudest dissenting voices against the PPP government for their fair share of Guyana’s wealth are coming from Regions 1, 2 and 3 which gave the PPP one-third of their election vote with Region 3 providing the largest plus vote differential for the PPP. It’s now time to hear from PNC voters against racial divisiveness and demanding their fair share of Guyana’s wealth which includes speaking out against their own leaders who sold them out.
Yours faithfully,
R. David
No contracts cast in stone, except Norton and Jagdeo own!
