Dear Editor,
I have a solve for this political football called “racismanese politics ” that been around and invented by the colonizers or imperialists since 1965.
My hypothetical solution is 4 year terms for 3 party system Mixed Race party, Afro-Guyanese Party and Indo- Guyanese Party, the first party, no order implied, will have 4 years to lead then it hands over leadership to the next party and so on and so forth. Guyanese citizens will only vote on referendums and recalls of bills and heads of state owned enterprises, including Ambassadors and permanent secretaries.
Citizens will be able to nullify bills that negatively affect their lives during the four years of reign of the party in power, including bills related to taxes. Separately, citizens will vote to keep good projects or cancel nonsensical or wasteful ones , including those approved by the procurement authorities, contracts also includes those of heads of government entities as well as commissioners or permanent secretaries and ambassadors.
I believe the racial tangent will eventually intersect at the point of ‘One People, One Nation, One Destiny’. Okay you are right just wishful thinking….
I forgot those little parties by religious beliefs, sexual orientation, old money, new money, Demerarans , Berbicians , Essequibians, socialists , communists, capitalists, fascists…I guess you see my point that the stupidity of Guyanese politics on racial lines is tantamount to a dog chasing its tail or a cat pouncing on its shadow!
So I suggest Guyanese get their act together before they all become an annex under Venezuelan rule, resulting in Spanish being the glue that will hold Guyanese together and not Mashramani.
Regards,
Keith Bernard
