….Rock Auto Trans and Spare Parts creates history in local basketball
Kaieteur News – In what is said to be a first-of-its-kind for local basketball, Rock Auto Trans and Spare Parts will give the Most Valuable Player for the March 18-19 Rawle Toney 3×3 Classic one motorcycle.
Yesterday at the company’s Charlotte Street location, General Manager Yolandia Ross and Public Relations Officer Wayne Griffith made their presentation of the motorcycle to organizer Rawle Toney for his third installation of the tournament which will be held at the Burnham Basketball Court.
“As a former player and journalist covering basketball for almost two decades, I don’t recall a motorcycle or any other form of transportation presented to a player locally,” Toney said as he praised Rock Auto Trans and Spare Parts for their contribution to the tournament.
According to Toney, “This is huge for local basketball! Imagine 64 players, and only one will ride off with this motorcycle on March 19. I think this will set a standard for marquee basketball tournaments in Guyana which will motivate our players.”

Meanwhile, Rock Auto Trans and Spare Parts’ General Manager, Yolandia Ross, highlighted that this is their first basketball sponsorship in basketball.
Ross reflected on the company’s support of the just-concluded Legendary Cup Futsal tournament, where they presented a motorcycle to the MVP and a lucky patron.
“We’re more than happy to support the Rawle Toney 3×3 Classic, and we’re looking forward to what the tournament brings to basketball in Guyana, Ross said.
Meanwhile, the company will also sponsor a Dunk Contest on March 19, with the winner pocketing $25,000.
Looking ahead, Toney said all systems are in place for a successful tournament.
He added that the overseas teams are finalizing their arrival, while the locally-based teams and players are anxiously awaiting the start of the country’s premier 3×3 tournament.
No contracts cast in stone, except Norton and Jagdeo own!
